TIMBAVATI BUSH ADVENTURE – TENTED CAMPS 2 – 8 JUNE 2018

OUR PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARI STYLE

Our photographic safaris always focus on tracking wildlife, according to the experience of our guides and of the wildlife photographer who will host the group. To maximize the photographic aspects, there will never be more than two people in each row of the car, which will always be reserved for our small group. Our vehicle will always be positioned in the best way possible, thinking both about composition and light, to allow you to have great shots. We will look for interesting scenes and stick to them as long as possible, in order to make the most out of every possible interaction

ABOUT THIS WEEK

It is an adventurous 6 day safari in Timbavati, a Wildlife Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park, in South Africa.  We will experience both a permanent tented camp and a mobile one, set up just for us. Every day we will head to the bush for two long, flexible game drives, at sunrise and sunset, looking for the most interesting scenes that the day offers. But a vehicle won’t be our only way to explore the bush, as amazing walking safaris will be set up for us whenever we prefer. Life in the bush doesn’t stop at sunset, that is in fact when it starts , so we will be ready to get onto the drive vehicle and dash out into the bush at any time of night to investigate interesting noises. Many activities to learn everything about bush life will be offered and are already included in the price: bushcraft, spider and scorpion module and basic astronomy.

This year we would like to offer you something very special, that we have personally experienced and enjoyed years ago: two Rhino horn microchipping. This activity has to be reserved by January 2018 and has an extra cost. A helicopter, a vet and a specialized team will be on your side, doing the most of the specialized job, of course, but you will have your own tasks and responsibilities during each of the two planned microchipping session. This is a real hands on experience that will change your life! ( soon in our blog the story of the amazing day we spent with the Bateleur Team, the vet Dr. Peter Rogers, many researchers and the Timbavati Management when we sponsored a day microchipping rhinos ).

Don’t lose the opportunity to give your contribution in saving these endangered creatures!

Come and experience real life in the bush!

The tutoring of a wildlife photographer is included at all times

OUR PHOTOGRAPHIC TARGETS

There are no artificial barriers between Timbavati and the Kruger, allowing animals free range and ensuring that guests have an opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that South Africa has to offer. The area offers the opportunity to spot all the Big Five ( Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo ), a large diversity of antelope species, the entire range of smaller predators, over 500 bird species and a tremendous diversity of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. We won’t run after every animal, but will focus on the best photographic opportunities available, relying on our qualified guide and tracker‘s deep knowledge of the area and its wildlife and the suggestions of the hosting photographer. We will also definitely look for predators, Elephant and Rhinos. If we get lucky we might also spot the endangered African Wild Dog, but we also won’t ignore the beauty of all the small creatures and reptiles around us.

Please don’t forget your tripod. We might enjoy some great night photography sessions too!

LOCATION AND CAMPS

The two camps that will host us are unfenced and positioned in privileged areas within the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, a beautiful Reserve bordering the Great Kruger National Park.

At the Main Camp, a small and private tented camp, we will have spacious accommodation with all the comforts that you need for a quality bush experience. We will have electricity and it will be possible to recharge electronic devices and batteries. The food is of excellent quality and is best described as wholesome South African cooking. Nights will be spent around the fire in the central boma.

At the mobile camp we will taste life in close contact with nature. There won’t be electricity here but we will still have some home comforts. We will be sleeping under a bed of stars in adventure bow tents, enjoying wholesome, basic meals prepared over the open fire by bush camp staff, spending our nights around the fire.
